Bob Dylan- The legend that lives on!

Bob Dylan is a history archive, having seen it all from the 60s to the present day!
And wait, not only having seen it all but having won it all from music awards to the Nobel Prize in Literature like a real Outlaw!
Yeah!

Dylan has been a man blowing in the wind for quite some time now and has very well aged.
Nevertheless, he has always been close to my heart, being and soul.
The first time i discovered him was when i saw him being called on for performing the song Mr. Tambourine Man and the announcer said, “Allow me to welcome the man who ran away from home 17 times and got brought back 16.”
Haha.
I had clicked with Dylan and his life right then and there!
Like man, i had been wanting to run away for a long time too!

Coming back to Dylan,
that was one fine way to introduce the legend.
Bob Dylan had indeed run away from his home in his attempt to live the life he wanted to live.
And at the time, he was going from door to door asking for food just trying to survive somehow.
But soon success started pouring in.
And the man had found his path. And was set to sail for glory!

With his hands set upon paper and his eyes upon his goal, Dylan embarked to become the Dylan we know today.
And the one quote from him that says it all is,
“I had been born away from home and I’ve always been going there. If you know what i mean.”

Maybe Dylan too, was a born possessed by his innate vision of his life, just like many of the other greats like The Beatles, Queen, Mohammad Ali and many more, who simply claim that they knew it in their heart that they were meant to be big! That they were going to be big!

Back to Bob again!
Bob has been around for a very long time now.
He has been with us right from the time of the hippies all the way through the grunge era of the last great rockstar Kurt Cobain to the present day meme-world of Donald Trump.

Dylan has led and supported mass movements with his revolutionary songs and also made some mysterious ones that are pretty hard to decipher.
Back in the day, songs like “Blowing in the wind” and “The times are a changing” became anthems for the ‘civil rights’ and ‘anti-war’ movements.

His lyrics appealed most to the counterculture of the time and delved in the realms of social matter, politics, literature, philosophy and life experiences.

He has also always lived life on his own terms like true rockstars do, having started from folk rock to going electric without any explanations whatsoever.

He appeared less in public and maintained his privacy.
He always kept his life private focusing on making music and writing songs like a man possessed, and they being the outlet through which we know most of him.

Bob’s songs are such masterpieces that a mere 12 lines of a Bob Dylan song can speak way more than a 500 page novel!
Such was the ecstasy of his genius!
The literary outlaw also ended up bagging the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2016 for his masterpiece album “Blood on the Tracks.”

Moreover, he has received many accolades throughout his singing and artistic years.
He has sold more than 100 million records, maing him one of the best-selling music artists of all time. He has recieved numerous awards including The Presidential medal of freedom, 10 Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe award and an Academy award.
Dylan has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Nashville writers Hall Of Fame, and the Songwriters Hall Of Fame.
The Pulitzer Prize board in 2008 awarded him a special citation for “his profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power.”

Having garnered above all, all the respect that there is in the world! Which i believe is the biggest feat any being can achieve or aim to achieve!
Be true to yourself and express yourself in the most artistic way, in an attempt to impress your own self, and the world will follow.

And i feel Bob Dylan has finally reached his home, the home he left everything including all norms behind for, decades ago! If you know what i mean.

And today, he continues to produce new music from his ‘home’. And getting to listen to new music from the man, the myth, the legend Bob Dylan in this day and age is a pure blessing.

      1. Absolutely. Of course I often say that there will be many who did that and got nowhere but it is interesting how you read the bios of a lot of actors, musicians, etc, who jsut went where the wind took them.

      2. There’s a pattern. And life is so mysterious. Some lives seem to have a calling. And others, as you mentioned, even after an entire life of hustle seem to get nowhere. I don’t know what life is. The mystery. The WHYs! It always leaves me wondering! And the fact that the sun will die. So what has all of this been about. The questions that have no answers. 😍
(This conversation is beautiful. Thankyou for creating this moment.πŸ˜‰ Maybe this is what life and the universe is all about. Magic! πŸ˜ƒ)

  1. I always think the universe is full of magic. Ergo so is the world. I remember getting this book when I was little as a Christmas present. And it had this chapter about how the sun would die. Ideal reading don’t you think for a 9 year old? I mean it freaked me out. I thought like you do here, ‘What will all this be about then?’ Now here’s you today saying the same. You see? Magic. I mean we may not have an answer but magic just the same.
